Gloucestershire Association of Secondary Headteachers has adopted a collaborative and innovative approach to initial teacher training, working together to support Gloucestershire Initial Teacher Education Partnership (GITEP). GITEP is a SCITT (school-centred initial teacher training) with St Peter’s RC High School in Gloucester acting as the accredited school.
GITEP SCITT was inspected by Ofsted in 2015 and judged outstanding.
In September 2018, GASH Ltd formed a new partnership with the University of Bristol. The GITEP SCITT programme will continue to be school-led and school-centred with the University of Bristol delivering the academic PGCE part of the programme. We are delighted to be the first SCITT to work with the University of Bristol.
GITEP SCITT works with several teaching school alliances to provide School Direct routes into teacher training:
- Balcarras School
- Pate’s Grammar School (Odyssey Teaching School Alliance)
- Marling School (Cotswold Edge Teaching Alliance)
- The Cotswold School (Cotswold Teaching Partnership)
St Peter’s RC High School is the accredited school but the SCITT is managed by a committee representing all schools in the county. Committee membership is currently:
